Jingle Bells

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way.
Oh what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh, hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way.
Oh what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh.

Dashing through the snow in a one-horse open sleigh.
O’er the fields we go laughing, all the way. Ha! Ha! Ha!
Bells on bob-tails ring, making spirits bright.
What fun it is to ride and sing a sleigh song tonight, oh!

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen
Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen,
But do you recall the most famous reindeer of all…

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw him, you would even say it glows.
All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names.
They wouldn’t let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games.
Then one foggy Christmas Eve Santa came to say:
Rudolph with your nose so bright, won’t you guide my sleigh tonight.
Then how the reindeer loved him and they shouted out with glee:
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, you’ll go down in history.

Christmas Special

As December 14th is our last session before Christmas, we’ll make it a Christmas Special.

So feel free to dress up for the occasion. We’ll sing some well-known festive songs and add festive touches to some of our usual ones. The Scouts have already put up a Christmas Tree, giving a fabulous Christmassy feel to the hall.

And there will be bells…

Requests welcome, so if there is anything you would particularly like to include, do email me to let me know.

The area will be really busy on account of a nursery nativity taking place next door in the Village Hall, but the Scout Hall car park will be open.

It’s a Small World

By Robert B. and Richard M. Sherman

It’s a world of laughter, a world of tears.
It’s a world of hopes and a world of fears.
There’s so much that we share that it’s time we’re aware,
It’s a small world after all.

It’s a small world after all x3,
It’s a small, small world.

There is just one moon and one golden sun.
And a smile means friendship to everyone.
Though the mountains divide and the oceans are wide,
It’s a small world after all.

It’s a small world after all, x3
It’s a small, small world.

Alice the Camel

Standing with your feet slightly apart, bend your knees each time you sing the number of humps, holding out your hand to show the number of humps, “no humps” is a closed fist. Then waggle your hips in time to “B’dm bm bm”

Alice the camel has 5 humps x3
So, go Alice, go!
B’dm bm bm.

Repeat with 4, 3, 2 and 1 hump then…

Alice the camel has no humps x3
So Alice is a horse.

Tick Tock

You repeat this as many times as necessary to fit all the children in. If you have an odd child or two at the end you can always add in the leader’s name or “everyone” or both to make it up to three.

Tick Tock Hello
Tick tock, tick tock, the clock says tick tock,
Tick tock, tick tock, it’s time to say “Hello”
Hello Alex,
Hello Beth,
Hello Connor,
It’s nice to see you here.

This is a really versatile song. I have two other versions of it: for my KS1 Singing Club, and as a goodnight song for my own children:

Tick Tock Let’s Sing
Tick tock, tick tock, the clock says tick tock,
Tick tock, tick tock it’s time for us to sing.
Hello Daisy,
Hello Edward,
Hello Freddie,
Let every fledgeling sing.

Tick Tock Goodnight
Tick tock, tick tock, the clock says tick tock,
Tick tock, tick tock it’s time to go to bed.
Night, night Aardvark,
Night, night Bear,
Night, night Cat,
It’s time to go to bed.
